Do you recognise this?

  • Spain, Málaga, the Costa del Sol — it's incredible. Living here is a dream. And yet, the moment you start thinking about giving birth here, something shifts. A quiet uncertainty creeps in. You don't fully know the language, the system feels unfamiliar, and the birth stories you've heard haven't exactly put your mind at ease.

  • You've heard that Spain has a highly medicalised approach to birth. And somewhere in the back of your mind you're wondering — what does that actually mean for me? What are my options? Is a calm, natural birth even possible here? What kind of interventions are we looking at, and how do I navigate them?

  • Your baby is growing, and so are your questions. "How will I get through labour? Is it always this painful? How does it feel? How will I know it has started?" You want to understand what's happening in your body — but the more you search, the more overwhelming it gets.

  • And then there's the feeling of not being heard. Your healthcare provider hasn't been explicitly against your wishes, but she doesn't seem to take them seriously either. You want to move during labour, eat and drink, use natural pain relief — and you're starting to wonder whether any of it will actually be respected. You're not sure you're with the right person.

  • You want to prepare properly. But a 5-week course just doesn't fit right now. Maybe you're further along than you'd like. Maybe your schedule is too full, or your partner can't commit to five consecutive Saturdays. You need something focused — the essentials, without the fluff, in a format that actually works for your life.

How would it be for you if...

giving birth in Spain no longer felt like navigating unknown territory. You know the system, you understand your options, and you feel completely at ease about bringing your baby into the world here.

you could envision your birth clearly and feel genuinely excited about it. You know what a natural birth looks like, you understand what interventions are common in Spain, and you know exactly what your own preferences are — and that they are yours to have.

you were no longer afraid of the pain. You understand what your body is doing, you have tools that work, and you trust yourself to move through it. The uncertainty is gone — replaced by a quiet, grounded confidence.

you walked into the birth room knowing your rights, knowing how to ask for what you need, and knowing that your voice matters. Your requests are heard. You are taken seriously.

you got everything you needed to prepare — without turning your life upside down. One day, well spent, and you leave feeling ready.

Impression Antenatal HypnoBirthing Group Course Malaga

What is the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive?

This is not the full HypnoBirthing Group Course — and it doesn't pretend to be. The full course runs over 5 weeks with 12.5 hours of guided learning, a book, professional audios, weekly emails, and a goody bag. If that's right for you, it's a wonderful experience.

But this intensive is for couples who want the core of it — the most important techniques, the essential knowledge, the real preparation — in one single, well-designed day.

Five hours of focused hypnobirthing content. A shared lunch to breathe, connect, and enjoy the day. Everything you need to go into birth feeling informed, calm, and ready together.

Compact by design. Without losing the depth.

Text box, original HypnoBirthing book and professional audio programme are not included in the intensive, but available to purchase separately.

What is included in the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive:

  • 5 hours of focused HypnoBirthing preparation. Breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, the physiology of birth, practical tools for coping with sensations and pain, and how to work together as a team in the birth room.
  • My own comprehensive course handout. Created specifically for this 1-Day Intensive, bringing together everything we cover during the day, including practical information, techniques, exercises and scripts, with additional information to support your preparation afterwards.
  • A guided relaxation audio recorded by me. Continue practising the techniques at home throughout the rest of your pregnancy.
  • The complete Birth Plan Pack. Including bilingual birth preference templates, the full numbered options list in Spanish and English, and a formal bilingual letter for your care provider. We go through it together so you understand your options and can clearly communicate your preferences.
  • Understanding birth in Spain. A practical overview of the Spanish maternity system, your options and the interventions you may encounter, so you know what to expect and can make informed decisions.
  • Practical decision-making tools for the birth room. Including the BRAINS tool with the key questions translated into Spanish, so you can use it with your Spanish care team when decisions arise.
  • WhatsApp support from the day of the course until 2 weeks after your baby arrives. Including support with questions that come up as you continue preparing for birth.
  • A delicious homemade shared lunch. Time to pause, breathe, connect with the other parents and enjoy the day together.

After this day you will:

>> Master the Spanish maternity system. You'll understand how birth works here, what's standard, what you can question, and how to find the right care provider for your values. Giving birth in Spain will feel like an informed choice — not a leap of faith.

>> Know exactly what you want and feel confident asking for it. You'll have a clear birth preferences guide and the knowledge to advocate for yourself calmly and effectively in the birth room. Your voice will be heard because you'll know how to use it.

>> Trust your body completely. You'll understand what's happening physically and hormonally during labour, and you'll have real, practised tools for managing pain and staying relaxed. Not techniques you've read about — ones you've actually used.

>> Feel like a team. You and your partner will leave knowing exactly how to support each other — before, during, and after birth. This day is for both of you.

>> Feel genuinely prepared in a format that fit your life. You didn't need five weeks. You needed one focus

Investment

€ 230,- per couple homemade lunch included.

text box: €230 per couple, shared lunch included. Small group - max 5 couples

View this not merely as a course fee, but as an investment in a birth experience you, your partner, and your child will carry for the rest of your lives. When you consider what most couples spend on a pram or nursery — often exceeding €800, with a lifespan of a few years — the impact of how you experience your birth is incomparable. It resonates for a lifetime.

Why a 1-day intensive?

It fits your life

Not everyone can commit to 5 consecutive weeks. Whether you're further along in your pregnancy, have a demanding schedule, or simply prefer to prepare in one focused block — this format was designed with you in mind.

It's intimate

Maximum 5 couples per intensive. That means real attention, space for your questions, and an atmosphere where you can actually relax and take things in.

You learn together

Sharing this day with other couples at the same stage of life creates something powerful. You're not alone in your questions or your nerves — and the connections made in a small group often last well beyond the day itself.

It's focused, not diluted

Every hour of this day is purposeful. We cover what matters most, practise what you actually need, and you leave with tools you'll use — not a folder that sits on a shelf.

text box: ready to feel ready? Spots are limited to 5 couples per intensive.

Who is the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive for?

Yes. HypnoBirthing is a very complete prenatal course that benefits all parents. It doesn't matter whether you're planning a hospital birth, a home birth, a water birth, a land birth, a birth with or without medical intervention, or even a caesarean. HypnoBirthing will benefit you. The course gives you evidence-based birth information so you can make healthy, informed decisions that feel right for your family, while helping you understand how birth and maternity care work here in Spain.

Can my doula join one of the course sessions?

No, doulas don’t normally attend the 1-day birth prep intensive course. The course is designed for expectant mothers and their birth partner. So unless your doula is your birth partner, she cannot join. I am intentionally keeping the group small this helps create a comfortable, focused experience where every couple has space to fully participate.

That said, your doula is very welcome to get in touch with me if she’d like to understand how HypnoBirthing works and how she can support you alongside what you’re learning.

I am planning a hospital birth, is HypnoBirthing for me?

I'm planning to have an epidural. Can I still benefit from HypnoBirthing?

Absolutely. While HypnoBirthing classes are primarily focused on natural childbirth techniques and pain management without medication, there are still many reasons to take the course even if you're planning to use medication during labour.

The classes help reduce anxiety and give you valuable information and techniques that are beneficial regardless of your birth plan. Even though the course emphasises coping with pain without medication, you'll still gain real insight into relaxation, breathing techniques, and how to create a positive birthing environment , and staying calm and informed matters just as much when you're navigating a hospital birth in Spain. Ultimately, the decision depends on your own preferences and goals for childbirth, and the tools you learn here will serve you whichever path you take.

My hospital offers a free birth course. Why would I need another course?

Please do go along to the hospital course too. It's a great way to see the ward and meet the staff. But an independent course like this one does a very different job. Here's why parents choose to do both:

  • You'll learn a range of tools and options for natural pain relief that (in most cases) aren't offered or taught in the healthcare provider's or hospital's course.
  • Independent childbirth education isn't based on the policies of the hospital or healthcare provider, so nothing is left out because it doesn't suit their routine.
  • You'll know all your options for childbirth, not just what your particular hospital offers.
  • You'll watch birthing videos that inspire, rather than frighten.
  • Birth partners are far more involved, they leave feeling genuinely prepared to support you.
  • You'll be fully informed to create your birth preferences  and, because this course is built for expats, you'll get those preferences numbered in Spanish and English, ready to hand to your Spanish care team.
  • It's in English, in a small group, so you understand everything fully and there's real time for your questions.

When should I take the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive during pregnancy?

When doing the full course I recommend starting between 18 and 30 weeks of pregnancy. This gives you time to practice and get into the positive and trusting mindset you will have so much benefit from during birthing.

The intensive is especially helpful if you are already further along since its just 1 day.

However, it is never too early nor too late to get starting and prepare yourself for an awesome birth.

Does HypnoBirthing mean I won't feel pain during birth?

It can be, although HypnoBirthing doesn't promise a painless birth. You'll still feel your body working for you. You'll be given techniques to facilitate your body's natural process, which can result in a painless birth. Some women (like me!) experience a partial or even painless birth; others experience some sensations that are generally tolerable.

There's no guarantee you'll have a painless birth. It takes your commitment to practising the exercises taught in class and getting comfortable with the hypnosis techniques, which is achievable for everyone with a little practice.

And bear in mind that how you look back on your birth depends on many things, not just the feeling of pain. A birth can be deeply positive and empowering even with some amount of pain, especially when you feel calm, informed and in control of what's happening around you.

What can HypnoBirthing actually do for me?

Typically, HypnoBirthing families approach their births fully prepared and feel satisfied with their birth experience. Although not every mother has a pain-free birth or the exact birth she planned. Even so, the birth-satisfaction rate among HypnoBirthing mothers is higher than among those who don't use it.

Mums tell me the course brought them:

  • Far less anxiety and fear around pregnancy and birth
  • The confidence to make their own informed choices, even when things didn't go to plan
  • A feeling of being strong and in control, so they look back on their birth positively
  • Shorter, more comfortable, easier labours, with less need for intervention or pain relief
  • A deep sense of empowerment and pride in their own strength and capability

And for expat parents, that calm sense of control is worth even more, it's exactly what carries you through an appointment or a decision in an unfamiliar system, in a language that isn't your first.

Why is it called HypnoBirthing?

HypnoBirthing is a philosophy of natural childbirth education enhanced by hypnosis techniques. Though the name might suggest so, this well-thought-out program of childbirth education is not limited to a hypnosis technique, but consists of six components; deep relaxation, self-hypnosis, breathing techniques, visualisations, affirmations and physiological knowledge and natural childbirth education.

It is about training your mind and body to relax and work together in harmony facilitating natural birth process. This will contribute to a healthier, drug-free and stress-free birth experience for the mother, baby and father.

I'm not sure about the hypnosis part. What actually happens?

The hypnosis used in HypnoBirthing is a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, similar to the relaxed state you may experience when you are absorbed in a book or daydreaming. You remain conscious and in control throughout the process. You are not made to do anything against your wishes or values. The techniques are taught so that you can use relaxation and self-hypnosis yourself during pregnancy and birth.

Where will the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive be?

The 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive will be held in Malaga city.

The exact location depends on the availability of the venue I rent. Upon confirming your registration for the course, I will provide you with the exact address of the location.

Is the 1-Day Birth Prep Intensive enough if I don't have time for the full course?

Yes, if the full course isn’t realistic for you, the 1-Day Intensive is a much better option than going into birth without preparation. But it isn’t the same as the full 5-week course.

The full course gives you more time to absorb the information, practise the techniques, ask questions and gradually build confidence between sessions. That slow process is an important part of HypnoBirthing, and you simply don’t get the same time for it in one day.

The intensive is designed for when time is limited, whether you’re further along in pregnancy, have a busy schedule, or simply prefer one focused day. You’ll learn the essential knowledge and techniques and have the chance to practise them together.

If you have the time, I recommend the full course. If you don’t, the intensive gives you a solid foundation and practical tools to go into birth feeling informed, prepared and confident.
